The City of Independence Parks and Recreation Department is in search of applicants for a Full Time River’sEDGE Manager. This person will market and manage the day to day operation of River’sEDGE, the complex grounds maintenance, and assist with travel and Little League supervision. Come learn the basics of Psyanky egg design with Marnie Barnett at the Independence Public Library on March 21 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Pysanky is the art of Ukrainian Easter egg design and a traditional craft with a history of thousands of years. Free and open to teens and adults. P
The Independence Public Library is pleased to bring to Steinway artist, pianist, and composer Dan Knight to our community. Enjoy the solo piano suite “A Day in the Gardens of Monet” composed and performed by Dan Knight at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 27 at the Independence Jr/Sr High Performing Arts Center. Free admission. The library will close at 5:00 pm instead of 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8. Hours that day will be 9:30 am-5:00 pm. In order to provide better service, the library closes at 5:00 pm the second Wednesday of each month for staff development.

BUILDING NUMBERING CHAPTER 150 The owner shall place or cause to be installed and maintained on the principal building the assigned number in a conspicuous place to the street in figures not less than four (4) inches in height and/or a contrasting color with the background.
Police Department has been receiving multiple reports of scams. Beware of individuals calling and advising that a close relative is in jail and you need to send money immediately. Call the Police Dept. to confirm any such report. Also, ask the caller to call the Police Dept. to confirm their information. Any Law Enforcement agency will readily agree to contact the local Law Enforcement authority.
REMINDER – per Ordinance #136.03 it is the responsibility of property owners to remove snow and ice promptly from their sidewalks, or the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner as a property tax. When removing snow, be sure to keep it on your property and not into the street or the neighbors property.
