The Independence City Council met in special session in the council chambers at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Mayor Carl E. Scharff called the meeting to order with Council Members Hill, Hermsen, Schweitzer, Engen, Hand, Davis and Holland being present. Absent, none. Complete council proceedings are on file in the office of the City Clerk for public viewing. Council Members voted Aye unless otherwise noted.
Steve Diers has been offered the position of City Manager. Mayor Scharff called the roll for approval of the Independence Employment Agreement for Steven Diers with his duties beginning March 15, 2010. Hill, Hermsen, Schweitzer, Engen, Holland, Davis and Hand, all ayes.
There was discussion regarding hosting a welcome reception for the City Manager and City Clerk. No action taken.
Motion Council Member Engen, second Council Member Hill, to adjourn.
Whereupon, Mayor Scharff declared the meeting adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
